Scuba Diving : New Mexico Santa Rosa City of Lakes with Santa Rosa Lake State Park, Route 66, Lodging Santa Rosa Scuba Diving RestaurantsWhile the landscape around Santa Rosa is more semi-arid ranch country than desert, it's true! Santa Rosa is the SCUBA Diving Capital of the Southwest. There's the famous Blue Hole, a geological phenomenon. The natural, bell-shaped pool is 80 feet deep and has astonishing clarity and a constant water temperature of 61 degrees. The City of Santa Rosa owned recreation area provides an excellent diver facilities; a warm room, hot showers and plenty of parking for divers.

A privately-run dive store at Blue Hole supplies air tank refills, air tank rentals, equipment, wet suits, and various save-a-dive items. (bring certification card). You can buy a scuba diving permit at the Santa Rosa Visitor's Center located at Blue Hole on weekdays 8 am to 5 pm or Saturday 9 am to 2 pm. The application form is available here or please call (575) 472-3763. The permit is good at another diving attraction is a twin-engine plane 55 feet down at the bottom of nearby Perch Lake.
